DISTRICT BOWLS LEAGUE
RULES
1. Games shall be played to accord with EBF rules as amended by the league rules.
2. The Annual General Meeting is to be held in March each year, to accord with Standing Orders for the regulation of proceedings and business.
3. A President and Chairman will be appointed for a three year term at an A.G.M. and at each A.G.M. the following officers will be appointed — Vice-Chairman, Treasurer and Secretary.
4. The Financial Year will end on 31st December each year.
5. Any club wishing to resign its membership or to join the league shall give at least 28 days notice prior to the next A.G.M.
6. The Annual Subscription for membership shall be fixed at the A.G.M. and paid to the Treasurer.
7. All games in cup or league competitions shall be played by teams of nine players in three rinks, except as otherwise provided for in these rules.
8. Games shall be of 21 ends, no trial ends, unless otherwise agreed by both captains, and a 3ft.measure shall be taken as count, all games to commence at 6.30pm.
9. If a team is unable to play a fixture on the agreed date in the fixture list, every effort must be made to play the game as early as possible. If the game is not played by the end of August, the Chairman and the emergency committee will decide whether or not the points and 21 shots are to be awarded to the opposing team.
10. The starting date of the season will be decided at the A.G.M. and will finish in August each year.
11. All matches must be played during the numbered week shown in the fixture list or as agreed by both clubs. If rearranged for any reason it must be agreed by both clubs and played as soon as possible.
12. In the event of inclement weather a home team steward will decide whether the green is unfit for play.
13. Unless otherwise agreed by both captains any match unfinished because of inclement weather or. other cause over which neither team has control, shall be replayed, unless at least 16 ends have been completed. The score at the stage of abandonment shall be taken as the final score, if the game is not to be replayed.
14. The home team captain must deliver the result sheet to the Hon.Sec. or to the Target Office in Wide Bargate within seven days of the playing of the match. The result sheet shall show each player taking part in the game, rink scores and the result must be signed by each team captain.
15. The method of scoring for league games shall be: - 2 points for each rink win (1 point each for a tie) 2 points for the winning aggregate score (1 point each for a tie) A total of eight points per match. Cup games will be decided by winning aggregate score with a rink number drawn before the match is started to play off in the event of a tied aggregate.
16. A player shall be allowed to play for one club only in any one season.
17. No player shall play for his club in more than one team in the cup competition and in more than one team per week in the league.
18. In the event of two or more teams having the same number of points at the end of the season, the teams shall be placed in order of better shot aggregate.
19. A player arriving after the commencement of play shall be allowed to join in the game at the completion of the end in progress provided the player is making up a rink and not replacing a player.
20. Cups will be presented to and signed for by representatives of the winning teams in each division and in the Jubilee Cup. The winning teams will be responsible for the safe-keeping and engraving of the cups and their return to the following A.G.M. Failure will require that team to reimburse the league with any costs incurred by them to replace the cup or carry out the engraving.
