League Rules - as revised for 2012
CONINGSBY and DISTRICT BOWLS LEAGUE
RULES, AGM 2012
(Games shall be played to accord with EBF Rules as amended by the League
Rules)

The Annual General Meeting is to be held in March to accord with
Standing Orders for the Regulation of Proceedings and Business.

A President will be appointed. A Chairman and Vice-Chairman will be
appointed for a three-year term; Hon. Secretary and Hon. Treasurer to be
elected annually at the AGM.

The Financial Year shall end on 28th February.
-
Any Club wishing to resign its membership or to join the League must
give at least 28 days’ notice prior to the AGM.

The Annual Subscription for membership shall be fixed by the Committee
and paid to the Treasurer at the AGM.

All games in the League and Cup Competitions shall be played in three
rinks; there is a grey and white dress code -
1 penalty point taken for each
player inappropriately dressed. Wet
weather dress optional.

Games shall be of 21 ends, no trial ends, and a three-foot measure shall
be taken as count. All games to commence no later than 6.30 p.m..

League or Cup matches will start at the end of April and finish in
August of each year.

All matches must be played during the numbered week shown on the fixture
list, on a Friday, unless agreed otherwise by both Clubs at the AGM.

Clubs are expected to fulfill their fixtures (and Cup games) on the
specified evening or as agreed, even if fielding a team short of
members.

The following rinks shall be adhered to according to the number of players -
3-3-3, 3-3-2, 3-2-2, 2-2-2 (a minimum of six players).

a. If a Club is unable to play a
fixture and their opponents object, the Emergency Committee will decide
whether points and shots should be awarded to their opponents.
b. The President should attend if the dispute includes a member club of the
Emergency Committee.

In the event of inclement weather, the home team steward will decide
whether the green is fit for play.

Unless otherwise agreed by both captains, any match unfinished for any
reason beyond the control of either club shall be replayed, unless at
least 16 ends have been completed. If the game is not replayed, the
score at the stage of the abandonment shall be taken as the final score.

a. The home team captain shall ensure delivery of the score sheet to the
Hon. Sec. within seven days of the match having been played to his home
address. The result sheet showing a full list of players and points
scored must be signed by both captains, and will show the result.
b. The Home Team Captain will notify the Secretary if the game is not played
as agreed
at AGM.

The method of scoring for league games shall be:

2 points for each rink win (1 point each for a tie)
-
2 points for the winning aggregate (1 point each for a tie)

A total of 8 points per match
-
Golden Jubilee Cup (Div.
1,2) or Fred Powell memorial Cup
(Div. 3,4 and 5)
games will be decided on aggregate scores, with a previously drawn
rink play-off if tied.

A player shall play for one Club only in the League. If a player
transfers from one Club to another during the season, there will be a
ten-day waiting period from the date the transfer is received by the
League Secretary. New bowlers should be named in the usual way.

No player shall play for his club in more than one team in cup
competition and in more than one team per week in the league.

In the event of one or more teams having the same number of points at
the end of the season, the teams will be placed in order of shot
aggregate.

A player arriving after the start of play shall be allowed to join in a
game after completion of the end in progress providing the player is
making up a rink and not replacing another player.

It has been reported that the use of large nets on rink ends may
interfere with the game. They are to be used for a trial period.
